Driver Terms of Use

Version 1.2 · in force from 5 September 2026

The agreement between you and Swift when you drive on the platform.

1. Who you are agreeing with

These terms are an agreement between you and soSwift Rides, operating in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria (“Swift”, “we”, “us”). They apply every time you go online, accept a trip, or withdraw your earnings.

By tapping “I have read and agree”, or by continuing to drive on Swift after these terms take effect, you accept them.

2. You are independent

You are an independent operator using Swift to find work. You are not an employee, agent or partner of Swift.

You decide when to go online, which trips to accept, and which price offers are worth your time. Nobody at Swift sets your hours, allocates you a shift, or requires you to accept a given number of trips.

Because of that, Swift does not provide employment benefits, does not deduct or remit tax on your behalf, and does not insure you or your vehicle. Your tax affairs are yours to settle.

You own the vehicle, you set your floor price, you choose the trips. Swift finds you the rider and moves the money.

3. What you must have before you can drive

Before your account can take a single trip, Swift verifies you. You must provide, and keep valid:

A person reviews every submission. Until your account is approved you cannot go online or receive trip requests.

Once your identity has been verified it is locked. If your legal name or your documents change, contact support — you cannot silently rewrite a verified identity.

Documents expire. It is your responsibility to upload current ones. We can take you offline if a document lapses.

Only you may drive on your account. Letting someone else use it puts riders in a car with an unchecked stranger, and it ends the account permanently.

4. The face scan, and why we take it

The face scan is biometric data. We collect it for one purpose: to confirm that the person holding the account is the person on the licence and ID.

You give explicit consent to this in the app before the scan is taken, and you can withdraw that consent by closing your account. There is no way to drive on Swift without it — an unverified driver is exactly the risk the check exists to remove.

What we do with it, where it is stored and how long we keep it is set out in the Privacy Policy.

5. Going online and accepting trips

Going online tells Swift you are available and shares your location so nearby riders can find you.

You set a minimum per-kilometre rate. Swift enforces a band around it — currently ₦300 to ₦1,000 per kilometre — so that one driver cannot price a trip several times another's without anything flagging it.

Riders name their own price. An offer below your floor never reaches you. When one does reach you, you have 2 minutes to accept before the rider is told you did not agree and moves on.

You are free to decline. Declining costs you nothing.

At pickup and at drop-off the rider confirms in the app. If they do not, you can proceed after 2 minutes — a dead phone must not strand you.

6. What you earn, and what Swift takes

On a trip paid through Swift — wallet, card or USSD — Swift charges a commission of 10% of the fare. The rest is credited to your Swift wallet when the trip completes.

On a cash trip, Swift charges 0% commission. You keep the whole fare because you already have it in hand; there is nothing for us to deduct it from, and invoicing you for it afterwards would be worse for both of us. A cash trip is recorded in full with its real fare and zero commission, and it does not appear in your withdrawable balance.

A rider’s discount code does not touch your earnings. Swift absorbs the discount; you are paid on the full agreed fare.

We can change the commission rate. If we do, we will tell you before it takes effect, and it will only apply to trips accepted afterwards.

7. When a ride is cancelled

You cancel
The rider is refunded in full. Repeated cancellations affect your standing on the platform and can lead to review.
A rider cancels within 15 minutes of a scheduled pickup
The cancellation comes to you first. You can agree to release the ride or refuse it.
You agree to release it
The rider gets 70% back. The shortfall stays with the platform — agreeing should not be a free loss for you, but it is not a payday either.
You refuse and the rider cancels anyway
You are paid 50% of the fare for the time you lost, from money Swift is holding. On a cash ride there is nothing for us to pay you from, because no money ever passed through us.

8. Getting paid out

Your completed non-cash earnings sit in your Swift wallet as a withdrawable balance.

You can request a withdrawal of ₦500 or more to the Nigerian bank account registered on your account. The account name must match your verified identity — we do not pay into third-party accounts.

Your withdrawal balance is debited when you make the request, not when the transfer lands. If a request is declined or cannot be completed, the amount is returned to your balance in full and you are told why.

Every withdrawal carries a reference beginning SWD-. Quote it to support and we can find it.

You set a transaction PIN to authorise withdrawals. It protects your money: keep it to yourself. Five wrong attempts locks withdrawals for 15 minutes.

There is currently no way for support to reset a forgotten transaction PIN. Choose one you will remember.

9. How you must behave

We can take you offline, suspend you, or close your account for any of this. Where it is serious we will do so immediately and without notice.

10. Ratings and reports

Riders rate you after every trip, and you rate them. Your rating is visible to riders choosing a driver.

A persistently low rating, or a serious report, leads to review and can end your account.

You can report a rider from the app. Every report gets a reference beginning SWT-. Where a report concerns a rider’s identity, we can require them to put a government ID on file before booking again.

11. Insurance and liability

You must hold valid insurance for the vehicle and for the use you put it to. Swift does not insure you, your vehicle, your riders or their belongings.

You are responsible for the journey, for the vehicle, and for anything that happens during a trip.

Swift is responsible for running the platform honestly: sending you real trip requests, calculating your earnings on the agreed fare and the stated commission, holding your balance properly, and paying out withdrawals that are due.

The app depends on things we do not control — your network, your device, mapping data, our payment provider. We do not promise it will be available without interruption.

Nothing here removes a right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be signed away.

12. Ending the arrangement

You can stop driving whenever you like, and you can close your account from Account → Privacy & Data. Withdraw your balance first — closing an account does not automatically pay it out, so contact support if anything is left in it.

Closing your account removes your name and email and ends every session. Your completed trips and their payment records stay: they are the rider’s history and the financial trail behind money that actually moved.

We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if a document lapses, if we are required to, or if we stop operating. Earnings already due to you are still paid.

13. Changes to these terms

We can change these terms. When we do, the version number changes and the app asks you to read and agree to the new one before you carry on driving.

We record which version you agreed to and when.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes are subject to the courts of Abia State.

Talk to us first — most disagreements about a fare, a cancellation or a payout are settled in a single conversation.
